...a new indie author who didn't always know she wanted to be a writer. As a kid, I was bound and determined to be a scientist. But then I went to college and somewhere in my junior year had a conversation with a friend that resulted in a challenge to write a romance novel with a better plot than the one I had just finished reading. Challenge accepted, I spent two months in my spare time between classes writing the crappiest first book in the history of all crappy first books. By the time I typed "The End" on the crappiest book that has ever existed, I had a new-found respect for the craft of writing romance and a burning need to write another. Then another. And another. Captain Donovan “Van” Tatum is a black ops soldier in a secret organization that deals in all things paranormal and exists for one reason: To protect the Republic. He didn’t have a problem doing his duty until he fell in love with a job, then married her. But all’s fair in love and war and, when an enemy of the State started targeting and killing mates of the men in the organization, he had no choice but to cut himself out of his mate’s life and leave with no explanation. Making that sacrifice nearly destroyed him, but it’d worked.
Maddie Colby Tatum isn’t stupid. Five years ago, Van left her for a reason and until she knows what it is, she’s not moving on. Not even when he shows up in her living room and tells her to run with him because there is a hit team crawling up her lawn hell bent on collecting the bounty on her head. Okay, fine, she’ll run. This time. But let him back into her life in that permanent-sexy-man-growly way he keeps saying is gonna happen…?
Uh-uh. No way. Not happening. Not until he opens up and starts giving her the truth. And even then, it’s not happening. At all. Ever.
Oh, it’ll happen. Of that he has no doubt. But whether he survives her anger once she’s got her answers…? That’s a different issue all together.
Reader Note: This book has soldiers who talk like soldiers. It isn’t always pretty, but it’s what they do when faced with exploding plot bombs deployed in rapid succession that derail their best laid plans. If that kind of bad language isn’t your thing, skip this book. However, if you’re looking for a fast paced adventure that has a dash of the paranormal, an alpha male hell bent on executing a save-the-girl routine that’ll get him back in his mate’s good graces, and a smart, sassy heroine who’s not afraid to go toe-to-toe with the growly hottie floating her boat, this book is perfect for you. Enjoy!
Writing is a journey. Hell, living is a journey and an adventure. I’ve done my time working for the man. I’ve been a good girl and filtered all my thoughts and words before speaking them out loud. Just like my mama taught me.
But it didn’t help me be a better writer. Keeping it bottled up didn’t do anything to refill my soul and get me closer to my dreams. I’m done keeping my thoughts to myself. Done being the good girl sitting quietly in the corner looking the part and playing the part of the good little girl. I’ve got an opinion, a thought, a voice and I’m gonna use it.
To speak my truth. To say what I mean and mean what I say. Right here. Right now.

Lately, it seems that I can’t go anywhere—even my own inbox—without running into people who tell me that the way to increase a writer’s daily word count is to learn to dictate. In theory, I’d agree, except… this is day one of me trying it out and already I’m wondering what the hell I’m doing. […]
